Repertoire

The foundation of Maja Metelska’s repertoire has been music by L. van Beethoven, J. Brahms, P. Tchaikovsky, W. A. Mozart, W. Lutosławski, J. Sibelius and I. Stravinsky, and she has conducted many symphonic works also by B. Bartok, G. Bizet, C. Debussy, A. Dvorak, J. Haydn, F. Mendelssohn, S. Prokofiev, S. Rachmaninoff, M. Ravel, D. Shostakovich and R. A special place in her repertoire has Polish music, including all works of Frederic Chopin for piano and orchestra, and pieces by W. Lutosławski, M. Karłowicz, K. Penderecki, K. Szymanowski, H. Wieniawski.

Her repertoire reaches also to baroque music – J. S. Bach, G. Haendel, G. F. Telemann, A. Vivaldi, as well as to modern music, including works by M. Lindberg, K. Penderecki, M. Górecki, C. Damström, T. Murail. She has conducted world premieres of works by composers Z. Krauze, D. Przybylski, W. Ratusińska, I. Hammo, T. Lanu, Ł. Urbaniak.

For string orchestra she has conducted a wide repertoire, including pieces of less known composers and her own arrangements. She has conducted works also for choir and orchestra, for example J. S. Bach’s Christmas oratorio, J. Haydn’s Te Deum, J. B. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.

In opera she has conducted works by W. A. Mozart, S. Moniuszko, G. Puccini, G. Rossini, among others. One of her strengths has been working with distinguished soloists performing concerto pieces and accompanying arias.
