Maja Metelska – D.Mus.A in conducting and M.Mus in cello, since her conducting debut concert with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra in 2006 she has been pursuing a career conducting concerts with distinguished orchestras and renowned opera companies in Poland, Finland, Japan and other countries. As an ambassador of Polish music, she has performed abroad pieces by Polish composers, including Witold Lutoslawski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Mieczyslaw Karlowicz, Fryderyk Chopin. Devoted to contemporary music, she has been invited to conduct world premieres at the Baltic Opera, the Tampering Festival, among others, and the world premiere of Dariusz Przybylski’s opera Orphee conducted by her was nominated to the Polish Corypheus Award. Since 2011 she holds the position of conductor of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, where she has been working on pieces written by such composers as W. A. Mozart, S. Moniuszko, Zygmunt Krauze. Member of the Faculty of Conducting at the Chopin University of Music since 2007 – currently Assistant Professor. Award winner at international conducting competitions – 9th Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competiion for Conductors, 1st Solon Michaelides International Competition for Young Conductors, 16th Tokyo International Music Competition for Conducting.
